Thursday already.
I know that I mentioned earlier that as the week wore on my nervousness over meeting W. would no doubt find itself the subject of a post...but you know, I'm less nervous now than I was three days ago. I've got a ton of things to do to be ready for the visit but I am so comfortable with this man already that I just can't stress over any of it. It's nice and such a welcome change. I stressed constantly over things with M. I don't have to do that anymore.
I'm excited. I can't wait to meet him in person, I can't wait to get to the island and I can't wait to find the wild horses and I can't wait to shoot 500 photos of anything that moves.
I was talking to a girl I work with about the weekend and she said to me, "I can tell you're excited. Be coy, don't let him know that you like him," but wtf? He's not two. I'm not trying to get him to pick up his toys. I do like him and why should I pretend otherwise, or make any effort to hide my regard? I don't play games like that - never have and don't see the point in starting now. If I were a Dashwood sister, I'd be Maryann.
Because even the strange and unusual love to shop green, I've added the first of my gothic totes in my Etsy store!.
Finally got some items up in my Etsy shop!
At first I was all about the natural totes, but now I'm really nuts about the hot pink and lime green combination. I've got to go through my stock and dig up some more photos to print on those!
I haven't started on my gothic pics yet, chiefly because I need black totes. I'm running out to pick some of those up shortly!
Working weekend and I've still got a billion things to do so I better scram. Hope you're all having a fantastic weekend!
Here's a pic of my mace, for my Zombie listening, mace wielding pal Steve! The ball part is some kind of really hard wood, but those spikes are metal. Either way it'd hurt like hell to have that crash against your skull. You know I'm right!
I have a sickle that I should photograph too. That's the end of my weapons collection though.
I've been so busy I haven't had time to do a proper update, and today may be no exception, but I thought I'd at least try.
I've been invited to participate in an arts and crafts show over Memorial Day weekend (that's the weekend after the show in the gallery that I told you about) so I've been working on getting some stock together for that and for my Etsy shop, which I still haven't started updating! I plan to get some photos taken tonight of the totes and other items and start promoting those on Etsy. Etsy's great because you don't have to stockpile items like you do for a craft show. You can make one of something, photograph it and make it to order there. I'm appreciating that more and more as I work on getting inventory together for the second show.
There is so much to do to get ready for that, I am a little overwhelmed. I'm hoping that this weekend will give me time to get a handle on some of it and that will take some of the pressure off. Dating? WTF, who has time for that?? I feel bad because they've all been really great guys, but I've turned down all the second dates. I don't have time for that right now. Except for my grown up Harry Potter. I'm making time for him. We're going to be meeting not this but next weekend and taking a day trip to Cumberland Island, off the coast of Georgia. I've been wanting to go there for a long time anyway to try to get pics of the feral horses there, so it's kind of a working date. Kind of. Sort of. Ok, not really. I just happen to like him a LOT and meeting him and hanging out is worth the extra effort.
I'm already nervous - I imagine you'll hear much more about that as the date approaches!
Other news though! Because like I said, I've been busy. I met this chick through work that works as a professional photographer and we've struck up a friendship. She's taken me under her wing so to speak and I'm apprenticing with her, learning the ins and outs of the business. She's awesome and I love her already - she's the person who invited me to the arts & crafts show on the 30th in fact. She's incredibly generous and talented and I'm certain to learn a ton from her.
Edit: oh, yeah, the kitten is fantastic. Her name is Callie (like the chick on CSI) but she also answers to Buglet. She runs around with her mouth permanently poised to bite whatever she gets her little paws on first, and because I am a bad kitty momma and have taught her that it's ok to use humans as a chew toy, my lower legs and my hands and lower arms are a roadmap of claw marks and tiny, tiny teeth marks. My legs fare the worst because she likes to climb up to say hi and she doesn't always check to see if I'm actually wearing pants.
She's also given me the world's tiniest hickey on the tip of my ear.
I'd be even more excited about the weekend if it were not for the mounds of cleaning that I need to do at home. I'm going to try to get myself all psyched up and tackle it tonight so that I can enjoy my weekend without having to spend most of it taking care of house work. I really need to get some projects completed for my Etsy store, which I've decided to use to help raise money for my favorite charity, Heifer International. I'm going to turn some of my prints into iron ons and stick them on totes (to promote green shopping) and messenger bags (for everything else). Sunday's a rainy day according to the forecast so I expect I'll do my work then. Right now I'm trying to clear my Saturday for a nature outing, which means I need an oil change and clean house tonight.
The show got rescheduled for the weekend of the 23rd, but that's all good - I'm ready. I have my prints picked out, framed and ready to display. All I have to do is show up. Oh, and decide what to wear!
Little kitty does indeed appear to be a girl! I'm toying with the name McGonogal right now, but nothing's settled.
Is snoozing behind my monitor at the moment. Kitty #2 went home with Jo yesterday. This one is going home with Jo's friend. And we hear at least one more.
I wish I could show you a pic of him but I have no way to upload from work. Cute as a button though - dark gray with white paws and those blue, blue eyes.
I don't know his name yet, but the moment that I laid eyes on him I knew I'd be picking him up. He is completely irresistable.
I had to go to great lengths to pick him up, though. I popped into work to get a few things done before Monday and heard this little guy wailing. I followed the sound and found that it was coming from inside the wall of the CFO's office. Half an hour later I had located and learned to use a drywall knife, and cut him free.
He is uber tiny - maybe 6 weeks old. I had to teach him to drink milk and to eat food. He loves to play, but prefers to do so with me hovering over him so that he can dart back to safety easily. He gives the best nose kisses ever! He needs a name though.
Playing the field is exhausting. No wonder more women don't do it! I had brunch with the yaghtsman, afternoon coffee with the filmmaker, and hit the pier at sunset with the Kevin Smith clone. Tomorrow I'm meeting the gator wrestling snake wrangler for lunch and then meeting the marine biologist for a matinee film. No way can I keep this up. I think I need to limit my dates to one a day.
I'm looking forward to meeting the snake wrangler. He's batshit crazy, of course, but in that Wild Kingdom way that's rather appealing. I'm sure he's going to have some great stories!
They've all been really nice so far, but there's one guy I really want to meet and haven't set anything up with. He lives about an hour from here. I'm crushing on him though, and I want to meet him - maybe in a couple weeks. He's well read, well traveled, oh so smart...he's a writer, so naturally he's eloquent. He's also charming and witty and unconventional.
Yeah, I like that one.
This whole thing has been just the ego boost I needed, though! :)
Hey all. Sorry it's been so long since I posted anything. I've been slammed at work, but the last couple days I've been home with labrynthitis. Cool name for a crappy condition - basically means I can't drive - in fact, can barely walk - for vertigo and there's an insufferable ringing in my ears! Otherwise I feel fine - though the vertigo at its worst makes me feel seasick.
Updates...let's see...well, I decided that instead of throwing in the towel on men I'm going to date several at once. I never played the field before. I'm not even sure I knew where the field was. But where do you meet single men if you're not a bar fly? So a couple days ago, I signed up with one of those online dating services. Yes, I know there are some horror stories out there. There are some perfectly decent people out there too. And it's not like I set up a profile on Bondage.com, ya know? I don't think I'm taking a huge risk here.
I feel like I justified that enough.
So while I was filling out my questionnaire thing I realized I've become quite picky about some things that would never have entered into my mind before. For example, I won't date a smoker. I quit, you can too. End of story. I won't date anyone who is Christian - and I know that sounds strange but look...I'm not a Christian. I will never be a Christian. It's ok with me for you to practice whatever faith you choose in whatever manner you choose, but I don't want it forced off on me in any way, shape or form and Christians are notorious prostelitizers.
So no, I won't date Christians. I won't date Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormons, Catholics, Jews, Muslims or Islamics either, for the record. In fact, religious people freak me out a little and I'd much rather date science nerds. Or pagans. They're ok. Or Buddhists. I like Buddhism.
Anyway...I digressed. Where was I? Oh, right, pickiness in dating selection.
I won't date a Republican. Just not happening! And I won't date anyone who is allergic to cats, because I'm never going to be without cats, ever. In fact I won't date a man who doesn't like animals. I don't trust people who don't like animals.
Even with all my shalt nots in dating, I've got 32 messages this morning and a few of them are intriguing! There's a filmmaker/author, a yaght captain, a marine scientist, a Sci-Fi fantasy nerd with a slight resemblance to Kevin Smith both in looks and written word (and he's a fave), a grown up Harry Potter look alike (another of my faves) and a slew of military/ex military because after all, I live right beside a huge military base.
So far I have plans to meet the filmmaker for coffee and I'm considering the yaghtsman's offer for a photo outing and sushi. It's just he wants to take me out to sea, and since I don't know him at all that's a bit much for a first date. I might suggest sushi first.
I think this might be fun!
Willothewizp got me while I was busy brooding in my corner!
Anyway, this is my first meme thingie here on Vox, here are the rules though:
Each player starts with 8 random facts/habits about themselves.
People who are tagged, write a blog post about their own 8 random things, and post these rules.
At the end of your post you need to tag 8 people and include their names.
Don’t forget to leave them a comment on their blog and tell them they’ve been tagged, and to come back and read your blog for the whole story.
Okay then. Eight random facts about me:
1. I cannot sleep unless I am on the left side of the bed. Doesn't matter how big the bed is, doesn't matter if I'm in it alone. I have to be on the left side of the bed.
2. I've moved 32 times in my life and lived in seven different states. And I'm gonna move around some more!
3. I was in a cult for nine years.
4. I have a thing for vampires. Always have. My first crush was on Dracula. My favorite modern day vampire is Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Billy Idol with fangs. Can't beat that.
5. I am the kind of person that you could talk to every day of your life and never really know. I just don't open up that much or that easily.
6. Since this most recent romantic fiasco with M, I'm seriously wondering if I really shouldn't try dating women.
7. I collect rocks, and am particularly fond of fossils. My fave piece is a bit of amber with a tiny spider in it. I just love that.
8. I own a mace. I keep it by my bed at night so that I can crack open the skulls of intruders should the need arise.
Sorry if you've gotten tagged already - I'm way behind on blogs!
Thanks so much! Does "DH" stand for "der hubby"? hahaha! read more
